Focusing on bunraku and object manipulation, Finger in the Pie presents a one-day practical workshop with professional puppeteer Kim Scopes. This course is suitable for anyone from professional performers to the simply curious. Ideal for complete beginners, its also a fantastic opportunity for those with some puppeteering skills to refresh themselves on the basics.
Students on this workshop should come away with the following:
A practical understanding of the principles of puppetry
Practical experience of simple forms of Bunraku puppets, object manipulation
Experience of multi-person puppetry
Experience of improvising and devising with puppets.
Kim Scopes trained first at The University of Salford, then trained at East 15 Acting School. Straight after graduating from E15, she started touring extensively with Blunderbus Theatre Company. In 2012, Kim joined Flabbergast Theatre Company for their Edinburgh debut of ‘Boris & Sergey’s Vaudevillian Adventure’, and has happily been working with the company ever since, now being an Associate Artist of the company.
Recent credits include working as an Assistant Puppeteer on CBBC’s ‘Strange Hill High (series 2), Assistant Puppeteer on a music video for Warner Bros/Parlophone and Senior Puppeteer on ITV’s ‘Newzoids’. She performs regularly with the Award Winning Twice Shy Theatre Company, and has also appeared in an advert for a well-known home brand, performed at Glastonbury and has taught puppetry to children in Peru.
This single-day workshop (11-4pm) will cost £75/£50 conc.
