Artists In Residency

Finger in the Pie Artists

Finger in the Pie’s Artists In Residency Scheme gives us the opportunity to offer individual artists and companies support and mentoring as well as desk space and resources within our vibrant offices in Theatre Delicatessen, Farringdon. There are a maximum of three resident artists / companies at any one time. There is no cut off point for applications and we accept expressions of interest throughout the year.

RESIDENCY INCLUDES

  • Desk space in our central London office
  • One on one company / artist development / mentoring
  • Hosting and attending regular networking events
  • Discount rehearsal space and venue hire
  • Free entry to all Finger in the Pie Theatre and Cabaret Events
  • Promotion of your work to our networks

Every resident will be eligible for up to 1hr a week dedicated company / artist development with a mentor from the Finger in the Pie team. This development will be tailored to your needs and the demands of the project you are working on – but could include activities talking through funding applications, advice on budgeting, thinking through marketing ideas – in fact anything that you might find useful.

As well as developing your own projects resident companies will take it in turns to host a regular monthly networking night in Theatre Deli. This will give you the opportunity to build your own contacts, as well as give you the chance to work on an event with Finger in the Pie.

ELIGIBILITY

We support artists working in a similar area to Finger in the Pie. We will be accepting applications from individuals and companies interested in physical theatre, puppetry or cabaret. Our remit does not include new writing or straight scripted plays.

Preference will be given to emerging artists with no more than 2 full scale professional productions under their belt.

HOW TO APPLY

There is no formal application process. There are certainly no forms to fill in (see here). But we would like the chance to get to know you and your work. So first off drop us a line by email to admin@fingerinthepie.com – with the subject line ‘Artists in Residence Submission’ – ideally with a link to some images / video / writing about you and your work. If we think you might make a good fit we’ll then ask to come to see some of your work. This could be a simple scratch show, or full scale production. We’re planning to be up in Edinburgh scouting shows for Mimetic so if you’re taking something up let us know. Once we’ve got to know you and your work, if we feel you’ll be a good fit and benefit from the placement, you’ll be invited to join us for a six month placement.
